At Tuma Kavi, we are on a mission to empower communities, transform lives, and create sustainable futures. For over three decades, we have been dedicated to making a positive impact in Northern Ghana, uplifting the most vulnerable and marginalized individuals.

Our journey began in 1983 when a group of determined women in the rural community of Moglaa came together to address the pressing challenges they faced during a severe drought. From that humble beginning, Tuma Kavi has evolved into a regional NGO, touching the lives of countless individuals in 49 communities across six districts.

What sets us apart is our holistic approach to development. We firmly believe that true transformation is achieved when we address the multi-faceted needs of individuals and communities. Through our four core pillars – education, water and sanitation, sustainable livelihoods, and community mobilization – we strive to create a comprehensive ecosystem of support, nurturing the potential within each person we reach.

Education lies at the heart of our work, for we know that it is the key to breaking the cycle of poverty. We build schools, provide essential materials, and support teachers to ensure that children have access to quality education. We believe in the transformative power of education to unlock opportunities and empower individuals to shape their own destinies.

Water and sanitation are fundamental rights, yet many communities in Northern Ghana struggle to access clean and safe water sources. We construct wells, harvest rainwater, and promote hygiene practices, empowering communities to thrive amidst challenging conditions. By providing these basic necessities, we contribute to improved health, dignity, and overall well-being.

Sustainable livelihoods are the building blocks of self-reliance. We empower women, men, and youth with financial literacy, entrepreneurship skills, and access to microloans. Through income-generating activities and vocational training, we foster economic independence and equip individuals with the tools to support themselves and their families.
